How can we help?
Answers to the questions people ask most. If yours is not here, write to us and a person will reply.
Getting started
What is Ndu Well?
Ndu Well connects you with licensed therapists in Nigeria for private sessions by chat, or by voice and chat. You choose a username and a picture, and your real name stays with you.
Do I have to use my real name?
No. You choose a username and a picture when you create your account. Your therapist sees only those. Your email address is never shown to a therapist.
How do I choose a therapist?
Browse the therapists and filter by what you would like help with, language, price and availability. Each profile shows the therapist's experience, specialties, prices and reviews. If you are not sure where to begin, Know yourself better can suggest therapists who suit you.
Is Ndu Well an emergency service?
No. If you are in danger or thinking of harming yourself, please call 112 or go to the nearest hospital. The Help now page lists services you can reach immediately.
Sessions and booking
What is the difference between a chat session and a voice session?
In a chat session you and your therapist write to each other in a private room. A voice and chat session adds a voice call in the same room. Chat-only sessions cost less. Voice sessions are recorded and transcribed; see How long is a session kept?.
How far ahead can I book?
You can book from 12 hours before a session starts, and up to 30 days ahead.
What is Quick Therapy?
A single 15 minutes session with the next available therapist, for ₦2,500. You do not choose the therapist. It is a good way to talk something through today, or to try therapy for the first time.
Can I write to my therapist before a session?
Yes, once. After booking, you and your therapist may each send one letter before the room opens, so please put everything you would like to say in it. After the session, your therapist may send one follow-up letter within 6 hours.
When does the session room open?
The room opens 10 minutes before the start time. You can settle in and breathe while you wait.
How long is a session kept?
Both of you can read a session back for 24 hours after it ends. You can download your own copy for 30 days. Your therapist can read it for 48 hours and cannot download it. Voice recordings can be played for 7 days, and the audio is deleted after 7 days.
Payments, wallet and refunds
How do I pay?
You pay by card when you book, through Paystack. Money in your wallet is used first if you choose. Your time is held for 15 minutes while you pay.
What happens if I cancel?
If you cancel at least 24 hours before the session, the full price returns to your wallet. If you cancel later, or do not join, 50% of the price returns to your wallet.
What happens if my therapist does not come?
You choose: another available therapist, a new time, the price in your wallet plus 10% extra, or a refund to your card. If you do not choose within 72 hours, the money goes to your wallet with the extra added.
What is my wallet?
Your wallet has two parts. Spendable credit is money returned to you; it pays for sessions and expires 90 days after money was last added. Withdrawable earnings are money you have earned, such as referral rewards; they can pay for sessions or be withdrawn to a bank account in your own name.
Can I add money to my wallet or withdraw a refund?
No. Refunds in your wallet can only be used for sessions. This keeps payments safe for everybody. A refund to a card always goes back to the card that paid.
How do referrals work?
Share your code. When someone you invite has sessions, you receive 5% of each completed session price for 12 months, as withdrawable earnings. It comes from our share, never from the therapist's.
Privacy and safety
Who can see my journal?
Only you. A journal entry is seen by your therapist only if you choose to share it in a session.
Why were some of my words replaced with stars?
Phone numbers, email addresses and social media handles are always replaced with stars in sessions and letters. This keeps both of you safe and keeps sessions and payments on Ndu Well.
What if something goes wrong in a session?
You can raise a concern within 7 days of the session. Our staff look at the facts, and they read the session only if you allow it. If your concern is upheld, money may be returned to you.
For therapists
Who can practise on Ndu Well?
Therapists who hold a current licence or registration with the relevant Nigerian professional body. You apply with your licence, identity documents and qualifications, and our team checks them before your profile is listed.
How much do I keep from a session?
A platform fee comes off first (₦700 for voice and chat, ₦300 for chat-only). Our commission is 25% of what remains, and you keep the rest. The For therapists page works it through for any price.
When can I withdraw my earnings?
7 days after each session, so any concern can be settled first. The smallest withdrawal is ₦5,000, to an account in your own name.
What happens if I am late or miss a session?
If you join more than 5 minutes late, the client keeps the full length of the session and a 10% fine applies. A missed session carries a 25% fine. You may appeal any fine once.
Why is my profile not showing in the directory?
A profile is listed once it is approved, has opening hours, and has a payout account in your own name. Your practice page shows what is still needed.
